As you know, France gave the US the Statue of Liberty in New York. If you are a lover of the lady of liberty, then you have the opportunity to see several versions of her magnificent self while visiting Paris. This version is probably the most famous since it was featured in the movie National Treasure 2.
She is located at near the Grenelle Bridge on the Ile aux Cygnes, a man-made island in the river Seine. She is 11.5 metres (37 feet 9 inches) high. The statue was inaugurated on July 4, 1889. It is located at a bend in the Seine where it turns, so the statue looks southwest, downriver along the Seine. Its tablet bears two dates: “IV JUILLET 1776” (July 4, 1776: the the signing of the US Declaration of Independence) like the New York statue, and “XIV JUILLET 1789” (July 14, 1789: the storming of the Bastille).
We were also pleasantly surprised to find this:
It is an urban exercise park. This is the first one that we have seen in France. I have seen them in Sweden. You can see the bike, there were also simple EFX machines and many other things to use. There were also monkey bars (that were not at kid height) and climbing walls. Here we are actually on the small part of the man made island. If you turn the other direction you can take a nice walk which is great on a nice, sunny day.
